What is Agriclimat’s Climate Action Plan?
he Climate Action Plan is a diagnostic tool developed for the main agricultural production types in Quebec. It enables users to help fight climate change in two ways: by adapting to the climate and by improving the carbon balance of their farms

The Climate Action Plan includes the following components :
Adaptation :
- Climate data specific to the farm
- Risk analysis for the farm
- Considerations regarding selected actions for climate change adaptation
Carbon balance :
- Estimate of GHG emissions
- Estimate of carbon dynamics in soil and hedges
- Considerations regarding potential actions to improve the farm’s carbon balance
Action plan to fight climate change :
- Key data from the Climate Action Plan initiative
- Summary document cataloguing actions the farm can take to adapt to changes in climate and to improve its carbon balance
Who can produce a Climate Action Plan for Agriclimat?
This is a professional service provided by agricultural advisors in collaboration with the Conseil pour le développement de l’agriculture du Québec (CDAQ). The CDAQ is responsible for training and accrediting advisors.
A solid scientific foundation
The climate data comes from a partnership between Ouranos and the CDAQ and is specifically linked to the farm’s main location of operation (with a 10 km by 10 km precision).
The methodology used to conduct the carbon footprint assessment complies with the GHG Protocol and the IPCC recommendations.
More than 30 researchers and experts in agronomy, climatology, and GHG emissions contributed to the development of the Climate Plan carried out by Agriclimat.

Farmers may be eligible for subsidies through
the Programme services-conseils. These may cover some of the expenses involved in preparing a Climate Action Plan.
The CDAQ is registered with the Agriconseils networks as a service provider for agricultural and agri-food businesses through the Programme services-conseils 2023-2028.
